Photos for NTA forms: 10 KB to 200 KB

The National Testing Agency, which runs NEET UG, JEE Main and CUET UG, allows photographs between 10 KB and 200 KB. That is a generous range, but it still trips people up: a raw phone photo is far bigger than 200 KB, and some apps shrink photos so much that they drop under 10 KB.

This page is set to 10 to 200 KB and keeps your photo's shape. NTA forms don't fix the pixel size, but they do want a passport style photo with a light background where your face covers most of the frame, so crop accordingly.

Steps for an NTA photo

  1. Take a recent colour photo against a white background, with ears visible and no cap or glasses.
  2. Choose it here and crop from just above your head to just below the shoulders.
  3. Press Create file and download. It will be well inside 10 to 200 KB.

NEET also needs a postcard size photo

NEET UG asks for a passport size photo and a postcard size photo (4 x 6 inches), both between 10 and 200 KB. The postcard photo should show more of you, from head to chest. Make it with the same steps, but crop wider. The NEET page has both sizes ready, along with the signature and thumb impression.

Other uploads with a 200 KB limit

Many scholarship portals, university admission forms and state portals allow up to 200 KB for each document. If yours must be a PDF, use the PDF compress tool instead, which can also merge several pages into one file.

Frequently asked questions

Is 200 KB the same as 0.2 MB?

Roughly, yes. Forms that say 0.2 MB mean the same limit. The tool stays under 200,000 bytes to be safe.

My photo is only 8 KB. Will NTA reject it?

It may, because the minimum is 10 KB. Set Min KB to 10 here and the tool will bring it into range.

Can I upload a selfie?

A selfie is fine if it is straight, well lit and against a plain background. Hold the phone at eye level, not from below.
