About the JEE Main upload rules

JEE Main, conducted by the National Testing Agency, is the entrance exam for NITs, IIITs and the first step towards JEE Advanced. Its uploads are simpler than NEET: a recent photograph between 10 and 200 KB, a signature between 4 and 30 KB, and a category certificate PDF for reserved category candidates.

The photo should be in colour with a light background, showing your full face with ears visible. Spectacles are allowed if there is no glare. Many students fill JEE Main and CUET together, and the same photo and signature usually work for both.

How to make the JEE Main photo

  1. Take the photo in daylight, facing a window, against a plain white or light wall.
  2. Keep your face straight with both ears visible. Remove caps and dark glasses.
  3. Open the tool above, tap Photo and choose your photo.
  4. Drag the photo so your face sits inside the oval guide, then press Create file.
  5. Check that the result shows 300 x 400 px and 10 to 200 KB, then download it.

How to make the JEE Main signature

  1. Sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper. A thick, steady line reads best.
  2. Take a photo from straight above in good light, without your shadow on the paper.
  3. Tap Signature above, choose the photo and crop tightly around the signature.
  4. Keep Make paper pure white on. It removes shadows and grey paper.
  5. Download the file. It will be 400 x 160 px and 4 to 30 KB.

No paper nearby? Use Sign on screen in the tool and sign with your finger. Some exams want a signature on paper only, so check the notification if you are unsure.

Category certificate (PDF)

Scan or photograph every page, add them to the PDF tool above in order, and it will join them into one PDF of 50 to 300 KB. Make sure every word is readable before you upload.

Common reasons JEE Main uploads get rejected

  • The file is a few KB over the limit because it was compressed on a different site that counts KB differently. This tool stays safely inside both ways of counting.
  • The photo is stretched because it was resized without cropping. Always crop to the right shape first, as the tool does.
  • The background is busy or dark. Use a plain light wall, or the FormKit app's white background option.
  • The signature is faint or on lined paper. Sign darker on plain paper.
  • The file is PNG or HEIC instead of JPG. Files made here are always JPG.
